Special Education Teacher
What is the Special Education Teacher Role?
As a HTCSAT Special Education Teacher, you are setting the tone for growth, learning, and teamwork. We expect nothing but the best from our teachers since you are lighting the way for helping our students succeed.
Key Responsibilities include:
-
Build a culture of trust and learning
-
Deliver individual and group instruction to students with moderate to severe special needs and build strong relationships with students in order to push them to be their best selves both academically and personally
-
Design an individualized curriculum, write education plans, collect and evaluate data
-
Implement comprehensive individualized behavior support plans
-
Serve as the Individualized Education Program (IEP) team chair for a small caseload and coordinate related services
-
Must have successful work with elementary students who have oppositional defiant disorder (ODD), Dyslexia, and any special needs that may be linked to underserved communities
-
Collaborate with others to ensure each student is receiving the support they need that includes training and providing supervision to paraprofessionals and consulting regularly with specialists or personnel involved in a child's program (ex. speech therapist, occupational therapist, physical therapist)
-
Drive academic outcomes by analyzing data, studying student work and implementing high leverage instructional moves to ensure dramatic gains for all students
-
Train with colleagues and school leaders to receive targeted, real-time feedback on instruction, as well as unparalleled support and professional development
-
Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Successful candidates should have the following:
-
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Special Education or hold a Special Education teaching license with an outstanding record of academic achievement and extracurricular leadership
-
Working knowledge of federal and state Special Education laws
-
Experience with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and working with children with autism and developmental delays
-
Experience in working with children with Oppositional Defiant Disorder
-
Believe that great teaching closes the achievement gap and have an unwavering belief in your students’ capabilities
-
Have stellar teaching history with a proven record of propelling student growth
-
Possess a GPA of cumulative 3.0 or higher (transcripts required) or equivalent of 3 years teaching experience with evidence of closing achievement gaps
-
Have high moral character and strong work ethics, and passionate about teaching and learning
-

Computer Science Teacher
What is the Computer Science Teacher Role?
As a HTCSAT Computer Science Teacher, you are setting the tone for growth, learning, and teamwork. Computer science is a central feature of the curriculum. Students will study coding each week, using a range of introductory languages and platforms, including Code.org, Scratch, MIT app builder, Javascript, Python, C++, LEGO Mindstorms, and App Inventor. We expect nothing but the best from our teachers since you are lighting the way for helping our students succeed.
Key Responsibilities include:

Teach coding programs, curriculum, and adhere to CS K-12 standards
-
Maintain positive interactions with students, staff, and parents
-
Support the mission, philosophy and vision of HTCSAT
-
Teach face-to-face and blended computer programming and robotics curriculum, in courses that move from introductory level courses in blockly to Code.org, Scratch, MIT app builder, Javascript, Python, C++, etc.
-
Design and implement additional computer science and robotics curriculum (e.g. App Development), both as an independent course and within other disciplines
-
Moderate HTCSAT' Robotics Club, CS and CP clubs, including facilitating competitions
-
Collaborate with fellow Computer Science colleagues and HTCSAT's academic leadership
-
Familiarity with trends in machine learning and tech
-
Provide Professional Development to school to further develop and reach CS goals and objectives
-
Design and implement CS K-12 standards-based lessons to facilitate computational thinking and mastery of essential skills and understandings as determined by national standards
-
Plan and implement what students will learn, how they will learn, and how they will be assessed in a manner appropriate to the grade level
-
Provide regular and varied assessments of student learning to compile accurate grades and properly determine what and how all students are learning
-
Maintain an interactive and timely learning environment, in both physical and virtual learning spaces
-
Communicate consistently with students, parents, and school personnel
-
Keep current and complete electronic grading and attendance records
-
Work with the Academic Resource Specialist and/or counselors to accommodate students who have learning differences
-
Participate in the co-curricular life of the school
-
Ensure students math skills are evolving at the necessary level for specific coding languages
-
Be able to provide CS accommodation for special needs students as necessary
-
Encourage creative and imaginative technological pursuits among young children
-
Prepare lesson plans and daily activities
Successful candidates should have the following:

Bachelor’s degree and have a deep content knowledge of computer science with an outstanding record of academic achievement and extracurricular leadership
-
Experience with Computer Numerical Control (CNC) equipment a plus
-
Believe that great teaching closes the achievement gap and have an unwavering belief in your students’ capabilities

Have stellar teaching history with a proven record of propelling student growth

Possess a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher (transcripts required) or equivalent of 3 years teaching experience with evidence of closing achievement gaps

Have high moral character and strong work ethics, and passionate about teaching and learning

Professional, warm, and collaborative with students, families, and colleagues
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Required Qualifications
-
Undergraduate degree in computer engineering, programming or computer science
-
2-3 years experience in computer science
-
Proficiency in at least 3 CS languages
-
One or more years teaching Title 1 students
-
3.2 or higher in transcripts in areas of CS and Math(Transcripts required)
Desired Qualifications
-
Experience as a teacher and/or program administrator
-
Certificate in Orton-Gillingham
-
Advanced degree in engineering, programming or mathematics
-
Experience as a computer engineer or programmer
- Experience in a computer science middle school or elementary setting

Elementary School Teacher
